TUTORIAL: How to decorate cookies easily

This entry is the continuation of the previous one. Remember that there you have the recipe for the cinnamon and brown sugar cookies that we are going to decorate now.

First of all, we will need some ingredients and utensils to do it. These are the ones that I use:

Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Cookies

Hi again!

This post comes in two parts; first of all, this recipe of cookies. And although these cookies are perfect to eat without any additions, the second part of the post will be how to decorate them with royal icing. These cookies are perfect to decorate with icing because they come out perfectly smooth and they keep the cookie cutter shape very well.

I found this recipe on butterheartssugar's blog. She made an advent calendar in which the cookies were shaped in christmas forms and were numbered from 1 to 25.

I, however, have decided to make them a little more... animal.

¡Lizards!

But first things first, today we'll make the cookies and in the next post we'll decorate them, all right?

Fresh Strawberry and Cream Cake

Hello everyone!

Let's go with the second entry of my blog. We are still in February but the supermarkets of my city have started selling strawberries already. I know, it's not ideal if they are not in season but I couldn't resist!

The mild tartness of the strawberries contrasts fabulously with the sweetness of the cream.

I took the recipe from Martha Stewart's website but I modified it slightly.

Metric conversion tables

Hello everyone!

I don't know if it has happened to you too, but a lot of the websites that I use when I look for new recipes are from the United States and have the ingredients measured with "cups".

In the past, when I discovered that the metrics of the recipe were in "cups" I used to click the "Back" button and I would end up looking for another recipe.

One day, however, I found this website. It is really useful, it has the measurements from cups to grams or milliliters (wether if we are using solids or liquids) and other conversions that may become useful while baking.

I have done a little summary of the ones that I use the most and I have prepared a pdf with them. Download it here.

I hope you find them useful!

Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

First post!

For my first post I have decided to do some Red Velvet cupcakes.

They look yummy, right?

The cupcakes' name makes them justice because this cupcake is not only red but its texture is amazingly soft- just like velvet!

There are a lot of recipes on the internet to make these cupcakes but I have decided to use one from Martha Stewart.
